Diploma of the college of Occupational Therapists, DIP COT,
Kate completed her Diploma of the college of Occupational Therapists in 1990 at the college of Ripon and York St John, York, England. She has experience in the mental health setting. However, working with children was always a passion so after having her own, she decided it was the right time to moved into the paediatric setting. She has lived in various countries and has to set up a paediatric Occupational Therapy service in Oman, Middle East. There, she enjoyed working in the various settings that children can be seen in, whether that was school, home, or at the clinic.
She has worked with children who have physical, sensory/motor, fine motor, developmental, or communication issues. She has experience of running groups and seeing children individually. She sees the role of an Occupational Therapist working with children as a therapist who guides the child using the mode of play to engage and motivate them to develop and learn skills they might have previously found difficult. Learning through fun is the best possible way. She wants to help educated teachers/assistants and parents on goal setting ideas for their child but sees it as a two way process and values the interaction/experience of the child from the family and school setting.
She moved to Hong Kong in 2011 with her husband, Gary and 2 children, Joshua and Leon. |
