Speech therapists focus on developing your child's overall communication abilities. Initially both formal and informal means of assessment are completed in order for the therapist to establish a comprehensive picture of your child. Based on these findings, a therapy programme will be devised specific to your child’s individual needs. Speech therapists aim to develop your child’s skills in the following key areas: pre-verbal communication, receptive and expressive language, social interaction, as well as articulation, voice and fluency. In order to provide an integrated approach, liaison with parents and teachers assists children in generalising skills reinforced in therapy sessions to home and school. |
